In Memory of Ron Nishita

To all Blue Ghosts,
Ron Nishita leaves behind a lesson for us all — to endure, to enjoy, to embrace and live life. He didn’t let his Vietnam injuries ‘"handicap"’ him. His smile and contagious laugh lit up a room and anyone who knew him, did not forget him.
I was honored to have his hooch mate come to the Tucson services, Clark Harper. He was a loach mechanic and best buds with WRIGHT and NISHITA. Both Harvey(Wayne) and Ron chose to extend their tour while Clark came back stateside. That decision would cost Wright his life and severely wound Ron.
Ron and Clark have kept in touch all these many years. Clark shared great memories and stories of their time in Vietnam. The little dog they rescued who later died from rabies and 16 guys had to then endure the rabies shots. Building a water tower shower, many nights playing cards, the selling of bottled cola from a small fridge … lots of escapades.
He was proud to be a F Troop 8th Cav Blue Ghost and wore his cap with pride. I regret he was not well enough to attend any of the reunions to reconnect with other Blue Ghosts. He was honored with gun salute, taps, and a moving flag presentation from the VFW. May we honor him by doing good deeds for fellow veterans and embracing our comrades and brothers who stood next to us in war."
